Yuchuan Ding, M.D., Ph.D.
 

Widely known for his extensive research in neurosciences, Yuchuan Ding, M.D., Ph.D. currently serves as the Director of Research Laboratories and Associate Professor for the Department of Neurosurgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In addition to these appointments, Dr. Ding also holds the position of Visiting Professor of Neuroscience, Neurosurgery, and Neurology for the Capital University of Medical Science in Beijing, China, as well as the position of volunteer faculty of Neurosurgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. His expertise as a researcher in biochemical and biomedical sciences as well as neurosciences had led Dr. Ding to profound advances and conclusions with stroke therapy.

Dr. Ding’s academic honors and awards include: the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Scholarship, the National Achievement Award of Science and Technology for his research on plastic surgery and microanatomy, and the ANU scholarship. His recognition doesn’t stop there; in the last 17 years Dr. Ding has been published in over 35 journals and 24 abstracts in addition to presenting at 6 National/International meetings since 1999.

This exceptional doctor received his M.D. in Medicine at Beijing Medical University and his M.S. in Surgery at The Plastic Surgery Hospital, Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China. Dr. Ding continued on to his Ph.D. in Developmental Neuroscience at The Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. After finishing his residency in China and research in Australia, Dr. Ding received his postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville, TN and proceeded to become an assistant professor at Wayne State University. Dr. Ding is currently a member of the American Heart Association Stroke Council, the US Society for Neuroscience, the Australian Neuroscience Society, and the Society for Plastic Surgery, Chinese Medical Association.
